Office of the Commissioner

     Larry Bond brings to the challenging position of commissioner of the Department of Public Protection an outstanding background in public administration.

     Bond has had a long career in public service. He has served as chief administrative officer for Jefferson County Government, as chief deputy and chief operating officer for the Jefferson County Circuit Clerk’s Office and as director of administration with the rank of colonel for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

     During his career, Bond has been responsible for organizations with as many as 1,800 employees and budgets in the millions of dollars.

     Bond is a graduate of Western Kentucky University’s Sheriff’s Academy and attended the University of Louisville and Kentucky Wesleyan University. He is a U.S. Army veteran and was decorated for his service during the Vietnam War.

     As commissioner, Bond oversees 11 diverse agencies that have the common goal of protecting the public. They include the Public Service Commission, the Office of Charitable Gaming, the Kentucky Horse Racing Authority, the Office of Insurance, and the Office of Alcoholic Beverage Control.

• Merge on to U.S.127 North.

From I-64 West:
• Take the Frankfort-Lawrenceburg Exit 53B.
• Turn right onto U.S.127 North.

After approximately 1.5 miles:
• Turn left at the traffic light by the Speedway station onto U.S.60/Louisville Road.
• Turn right onto Airport Road, which is the second road after Sonic Restaurant.
• The building is on the right.
